A total of 18 suspects are facing charges in Operation Stuffed Turkey, a four month undercover drug investigation by the Selma Police Department.
Police Chief W.M. “Billy” Thomas said officers began rounding up the suspects this morning (Thursday) with the assistance of the Smithfield Police Department and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office. Operation Stuffed Turkey targeted the sale of illegal narcotics in the Selma city limits.
“I want to first thank our officers along with the Smithfield Police Department and Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Thomas told JoCoReport. “We don’t want these criminals in Selma.”
The 18 suspects are facing a combined total of 204 charges. Most are alleged street level drug dealers.
“We will continue to be proactive to rid Selma of drug activity. We want the citizens and businesses to know we won’t tolerate this activity,” Chief Thomas added.
At last report, 10 of the 18 suspects had been captured today. Police said 3 of the 18 suspects are juveniles.
