2 Adults, 14 Children Displaced By Fire

A weekend fire displaced two families from an apartment building owned by the Goldsboro Housing Authority.

The fire was reported just after midnight Saturday on Vanderbilt Circle.

The blaze displaced a 31 year-old woman and her 9 children along with an adjacent apartment occupied by a 36 year-old woman and her 5 children.

All 16 people made it out of the apartments without injury.

The fire is believed to have started on a porch shortly after someone was seen running away from the area. Goldsboro Police are investigating the blaze.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to assist the victims.  Photos by John Payne

  1. Mamas’ tax refunds oughta put a big dent in what they owe the taxpayers, just sayin’……

  2. 31 yrs old with NINE children?
36 yrs old with FIVE children?
So they’re all living Free in section 8, I’m sure they receive Free food stamps, and Free medicaid.
But neither female was ever in line at the Free clinic for Free birth control….smh

  3. Wow. I’m glad no one was hurt but the real tragedy is these men and women having that many children knowing they can’t afford them. Being on Welfare is not meant to be a career and the government should stop enabling this nonsense.
