2 Children Ejected From SUV During Crash

Three children were injured, two seriously, in a wreck Monday morning in northern Johnston County.

The two vehicle accident was reported around 8:00am at the intersection of Highway 39 North and Highway 231 in the Corinth Holders community.

The Highway Patrol said the driver of a Jeep SUV had stopped for a stop sign on Highway 231 at the intersection. The driver then proceeded into the intersection but struck the side of a large wrecker traveling southbound on Highway 39.

The impact spun the SUV around in the roadway ejecting two of the three children in the vehicle.  The wrecker was forced off the roadway into a dirt lot.

The two children ejected from the SUV were rushed to Wake Medical Center for treatment of serious injuries.  The third child sustained minor injuries. Initial reports indicate the children were not properly restrained in the vehicle.

The driver of the wrecker was not injured.

Charges are pending.
