Residents in two subdivisions awoke Tuesday morning to find their cars had been broken into. More than 2 dozen motor vehicle break-ins were reported in the Barrow Farms and Pineville Subdivisions off Buffalo Road east of Clayton.
In all the cases the vehicles had been left unlocked. Thieves even entered some vehicles that had been parked in the garage of a home but the garage door had been left open.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating all the cases, encourages residents to keep their cars locked, valuables out of sight, and when possible park in a well-lit area. And if you ever see any suspicious activity report it immediately. Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to contact detectives at 919-989-5000.
