Two teenagers were killed, another was injured after being struck while walking in Harnett County Saturday night.
The accident happened at 11:15pm on Highway 421 near McNeill Mill Road.
The three teens had just left a local Kangaroo gas station after purchasing drinks and snacks and were returning to one of the teen’s homes when they were struck. The driver involved in the collision immediately fled from the scene.
The teens killed were 13 year-old Jennifer Schark and 16 year-old Kyle Straight both of Broadway. Steven Daniels, 14, was transported to Central Carolina Hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal hit and run and asks anyone who has any information that could help identify the vehicle or driver to call the Troop B Highway Patrol Communication Center at 1-800-334-7411 or the Harnett County Highway Patrol Office at 910-893-5704.
