Students are still on their Christmas break, but the new 2018-2019 school calendar for Johnston County Schools has been released.
For traditional calendar students, the school year will begin on Monday, August 27, 2018 and end on Thursday, May 30, 2019. The calendar includes a two week break for Christmas in December 2018 and Spring break from April 19-26, 2019. Graduation will take place on Friday, May 31, 2019.

Under state law, a school calendar has to contain a total of 215 days. For the 2018-19 school year, there are 185 student days, 10 annual leave (vacation) days, and 11 holidays.
The Calendar Committee reviewed 17 possible calendars for the 2018-19 term and then narrowed the number to two sample calendars that were placed on the school system’s website for review. Based on feedback, the calendar submitted was approved by the Board of Education at their December meeting.
