2,397 New Building Lots, 253 Subdivisions Approved Last Year
Johnston County added 253 new subdivisions in 2018, four more than in 2017.
According to a report from the Johnston County Planning Department, 48 major and 205 minor subdivisions were approved in 2018. That represents a total of 2,397 new building lots added last year.
That’s an increase over 2017, when 249 subdivisions were added – 44 major and 205 minor – representing 1,910 new building lots. It’s also a 25% increase in the total number of building lots approved from just a year earlier.
In 2018, new subdivisions took 2,956.57 acres of land, up from 2,135.33 acres in 2017.
In 2016, 1,637 new building lots were approved. 1,172 were added in 2015 and 884 in 2014.
As of Dec. 31, 2018, a total of 11,745 building lots have been approved awaiting construction.
At the end of 2018, the planning department had 5 pending major subdivision requests totaling 222 residential lots.
