Andy Moore Returns As Smithfield Mayor
Smithfield Mayor Andy Moore will return for a new two year term after surviving a challenge from Town Councilman Marlon Lee, who was seeking the Office of Mayor. Incumbent Mayor Moore garnered 723 votes, compared to 442 votes cast for Mr. Lee in Tuesday’s muncipial elections.

Six candidates were running for three seats on the Smithfield Town Board. All three incumbents were returned to office for four-year terms.

In unofficial results, Councilman Roger Wood received 626 votes, Councilman Stephen Rabil 594 votes, and Councilman John A. Dunn 588 votes. They defeated three challengers, Doris Wallace who had 439 votes, Stuart Lee 279 votes, and Felicia Baxter 214 votes.


Rains Loses Reelection Bid For Princeton Mayor
Longtime Princeton Mayor Don Rains was upset at the polls on Tuesday. In unofficial results, Stacy Johnson received 234 votes to Rains 154 votes.

Town commissioners Walter A. Martin Jr. and Mike Rose were unopposed for new terms. Martin received 279 votes and Rose 273 votes.

Medlin Retains Seat As Benson Mayor
Incumbent Benson Mayor Jerry Medlin handily won re-election. Mayor Medlin garnered 283 votes over challenger Eric Bowles Sr. who received 40 votes.

In the three Commission District races, all three candidates were unopposed. Casandra Stack won reelection in District 1, Curtis Dean McLamb won District 2, and Max Raynor returns for another term in District 3.

McAllister


McAllister Wins New Term As Selma Mayor
Incumbent Mayor Byron McAllister was reelected Tuesday night. McAllister was unopposed this year. He received 337 votes.

Incumbent councilman William E. Overby and Mayor Pro Tem Joe Scarboro won reelection, without any opposition. Scarboro had 320 votes and Overby 252 votes when the polls closed Tuesday evening.

Voters Elect Two New Members To Clayton Town Council
Town of Clayton voters rejected reelection bids from two incumbent town council members, instead electing two new candidates.

Incumbent councilmen Jason Thompson and Avery Everett were upset by their two challengers, Gretchen Williams and Ruth Anderson.

In unofficial results, Williams received 512 votes and Anderson 472 to secure the two council seats. Thompson finished in third with 437 votes and Everett in fourth with 417 votes.

Incumbent Clayton Mayor Jody McLeod was unopposed and received 864 votes in his reelection.

Kenly Mayor Hales Wins Another Term
Incumbent Mayor H.L. (Tooie) Hales was unopposed at the polls and won reelection, Tuesday. Hales secured 79 votes.

Five candidates were vying for three town council seats. In unofficial returns, Keith Davis secured the top spot with 80 votes, LaWanda Neal finished second with 74, and Garrett Warren Stancil secured the third seat with 59 votes.

Wade Troutman finished in fourth place with 31 votes followed by Jason Tedder with 19 votes.

Beverly Hicks Knight secured 67 votes in the race for an unexpired term on the town council. She was unopposed.

Incumbents Return In Archer Lodge
Incumbent Mayor Matt Mulhollem and three members of the Archer Lodge town council were reelected to new terms on Tuesday.

All the incumbents were unopposed.

Mayor Mulhollem received 93 votes for reelection.

Councilman Clyde Castleberry received 89 votes, J. Mark Jackson 87 votes, and James L. Purvis III 76 votes, in unofficial results.

Four Oaks Elects Three Commissioners
Incumbent Four Oaks town commissioner Kim Minshew Robertson was the top vote-getter in Tuesday’s race for three town board seats. Robertson received 186 votes.

Newcomer Tony J. Capps finished second with 144 votes. Incumbent Carles Surles finished third with 140 votes.

Ian Trammell and Virgil Saliard Jr. were unsuccessful in their bid for town board. Trammell received 90 votes and Saliard 15 votes, in unofficial returns.

Pine Level Voters Reject New Candidates
Pine Level residents rejected all challengers in Tuesday’s election, voting to retain all four incumbent council members and the mayor.

Mayor Jay “Jeff” Holt was reelected, defeated his opponent Thomas Garner, with 212 votes to Garner’s 152 votes.

Four incumbent commissioners were returned to office. Incumbent Bill Radford had 222 votes, Phil Pittman 203, Greg Baker 200, and Jimmy Garner 185 votes.

Rodney Cabe finished a close fifth with 180 votes. He was followed by Bruce Avery with 152 votes and Patrick Riley with 57 votes. All results are unofficial until certified by the Johnston County Board of Elections.


Dobbin And Triplett Win Wilson’s Mills Council Race
A low voter turnout kept things close in the race for Wilson’s Mills Town Council. Three candidates were seeking two seats up for election on Nov. 7.

Carolyn Whitley Dobbin was the top vote-getter with 47 votes, followed by J.C. Triplett with 44 votes. They secured the two seats on the town council.

Lamarr Watson finished in third place with 32 votes.

Micro Candidates Unopposed
There were no surprises at the polls in the Town of Micro. All four candidates were unopposed. Marty Parnell won the race for mayor with 27 votes.

Tim Earp, Katy Garcia, and Kevin Worley won three seats on the Micro town board. They had no opposition. Earp received 33 votes, Worley 30, and Garcia 25.

  1. The Selma totals are incorrect as posted on the Board of Elections website. Both east and west precincts have the overall vote total reflected under each precinct thereby doubling the vote count. It does not change the results but does show a more accurate total. I worked the polling center and saw the total votes cast.

  2. More than 90% incumbent re-election rate — that’s the real story. Despite all the complaints at people like to do, when it’s time to actually make a change, the sheeple line up and dutifully ask, “May I have some more, please.” The JoCo sheeple get what they deserve. #VoteOutIncumbents #ReapWhatYouVote
