CLINTON – A 24 year-old Sampson County man died Wednesday afternoon in a traffic accident. The wreck was reported at 12:07pm on W. Main Street near Overland Road, 0.8 miles south of Clinton.
According to the Sampson County Highway Patrol, Jarod Michael Parker of Old Raleigh Road, Clinton was operating a 2018 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed, westbound on W. Main Street. The Honda ran off the road to the right in a sharp curve and struck a tree. After the impact, the car caught fire and partially burned.
The accident marks the fourth fatal collision in Sampson County this month.
