2,400 Gallon Sewage Spill Reported In Clayton

The Town of Clayton has reported a 2,400 gallon sewage spill. The untreated wastewater spilled from a damaged pipe on Wednesday.

The wastewater entered a storm drain and drained to Ferrell Spring Branch behind 553 Averasboro Drive.

The NC Division of Water Resources was notified of the Aug. 5th incident and is reviewing the matter.

State law requires that the owner or operator of any wastewater collection or treatment facility to issue a news release when an untreated wastewater discharge of 1,000 gallons or more reaches surface waters.
