250,000 Gallons Of Sewage Spills Into Swift Creek

Johnston County officials said an estimated 250,000 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled on Sunday from a force main located on Cornwallis Road at the Swift Creek crossing.  The spill was caused by a break in a pipeline.

The untreated wastewater was discharged into Swift Creek.

The NC Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on Monday and is reviewing the incident.

  1. This is disgraceful and disgusting – there is so much wildlife in Swift Creek that have become endangered. Why has no one informed the public of the reason for the break in the pipeline.
