2nd Purse Snatching Reported At Wal-Mart
For the second time in as many weeks, Smithfield Police are investigating a purse snatching incident at Wal-Mart.
Monday afternoon, a 61 year-old Wilson’s Mills resident was shopping inside the store when someone grabbed her wallet and fled. The victim said it contained $20 in cash and her debit and credit cards.
After the theft, Police Chief Keith Powell said the suspect attempted to use the stolen credit cards at the same Wal-Mart and later at Hibbett Sports, which is nearby.
On September 18th, a Four Oaks man was arrested after he snatched the purse of a 34 year-old Princeton woman shopping in Wal-Mart. Steven Daniel Smith was found a short time later and arrested.
