Selma Police announced this afternoon (Thursday) the arrests of three people in connection with a double shooting that left one person dead and another wounded.
Police announced the arrests of 20 year-old Kevin Ruiz of Camp Lejeune and 23 year-old Julian Furr of Holly Ridge, NC on murder charges. A juvenile was also charged in connection with the crime. Ruiz and Furr are being held in the Johnston County Jail without bond.
Around 11:00pm last Saturday night, police responded to a report of shots being fired in the 500 block of W. Preston Street near S. Green Street. Police arrived and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds.
One victim, 19 year-old Malik Muhammed Shepard of Smithfield, died from his injuries. The second victim, 21 year-old Tyquan Kamil Dublin of Smithfield, sustained serious but non-life threatening wounds.
Police have not released a motive nor have they said how they were able to link the three suspects to the shooting.
Selma Police said are been assisted by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Four Oaks Police, NC SBI, and NCIS investigators.
