Santa is not going to like this story. Christmas is still two months away but that didn’t stop three thieves from stealing an expensive Christmas tree from a local business.
Just before 6:00pm Wednesday, three women walked into Wal-Mart on Highway 42 at I-40 in the Cleveland community, placed an artificial Christmas tree on a shopping cart then left without paying.
The tree was valued at $300.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Video of the shoplifting incident has not been released. Even if they aren’t caught, they will still be on Santa’s naughty list this year.
In December 2016, a Benson man was charged with stealing a Christmas tree from a display outside a store on Highway 242 South. Bah humbug.
