The search for a new school leader continues. The Johnston County School Board received an update last week on their search for a permanent replacement for former superintendent Dr. Ross Renfrow who retired last August.
A total of 31 candidates applied for the position before the deadline of March 9th. Applications were received from 11 different states, according to the NC School Board Association, which is leading the search effort.
The school board will meet in closed session in approximately two weeks (an exact date has not been announced) to review the resumes and determine how many of the applicants they want to interview in person. The interviews will also be conducted in closed session, likely in the month of April.
A new superintendent is expected to be announced and on the job by the summer.
