SMITHFIELD – The Smithfield Town Council has approved the purchase of a new bucket truck for the Electric Department.
The council agreed to spend $380,194 to purchase the new vehicle, which will replace a 15 year-old bucket truck that is in need of constant maintenance.
$200,000 has been set aside in the current 2023-24 fiscal year budget for the truck. The remaining balance will be paid out of the 2024-25 budget.
The new bucket truck will take about 12-14 months to be manufactured and delivered.
