3rd Pharmacy Shoplifting Case Under Investigation

For the third time in less than two weeks, local law enforcement are investigating a major shoplifting incident at a CVS Pharmacy.

Around 9:45pm Tuesday, Smithfield Police confirmed an incident at the CVS at 1180 N. Brightleaf Boulevard.   Two men entered the pharmacy and took approximately $1,000 in merchandise before walking out of the store without paying.

It’s very similar to two shoplifting cases on Oct. 14th at CVS locations on Highway 210 at McGee’s Crossroads and on Highway 42 in Cleveland.

At the Highway 210 location, $2,553 in items including large quantities of allergy medication, Crest white strips, hair clippers, razors, diapers and over-the-counter digestive medicine were stolen.  Less than 3 hours later, the same suspects are believed to have taken $233 in items from the Highway 42 location including allergy medication and nasal spray.

Each incident involved two heavy set men.

The incidents are under investigation by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and Smithfield Police.
