Charges are pending against a driver who struck four bicyclists on a rural Johnston County roadway Saturday afternoon. The Highway Patrol says 50 year-old Donnie Marie Williams was traveling on Massengill Pond Road near Sue Drive when she approached the four bicyclists from behind, striking all four of the riders.
The four were ejected onto the roadway. The bicyclists have been identified as: Christopher Graham, 34; Joel Arthur Lawrence, 57; Lynn Lashley, 57; and Michael Dayton, 60. All the injuries were classified as serious but non-life threatening.
Williams, the driver of the car, was not injured. Highway Patrol Lt. Jeff Gordon said alcohol was not a factor. Troopers have not said if speed or other factors played a role in the crash. Photos by John Payne
