Four people were injured following a three vehicle crash in Smithfield. The accident was reported on North Brightleaf Boulevard at Booker Dairy Road at 8:41pm Sunday.
Smithfield Police said a 2003 Chevy truck driven by Sandra Z. Loar of Benson was traveling northbound on Brightleaf Boulevard and was attempting to make a left turn but failed to yield to a southbound 2006 Lincoln truck driven by John Eric Bradshaw of Four Oaks. The two vehicles collided sending the Chevy into a 2015 Jeep operated by Michael Jason Yelverton of Smithfield that had stopped for a red light at the intersection.
Bradshaw and two passengers in his Lincoln, along with Loar, were transported to Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Damage to the Chevy was estimated at $3,000. Damage to the Lincoln was placed at $4,000 and damage to the Jeep was estimated at $1,500.
According to a 2016 report from the NC Department of Transportation, the intersection of North Brightleaf and Booker Dairy Road was ranked 17th in Johnston County for the highest number of accidents between 2012 and 2015.
