4 Injured, 2 Seriously In Buffalo Road Crash

The NC Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle accident that sent four people to the hospital, two with very serious injuries.

The wreck was reported at 6:00am today (Tuesday) on Buffalo Road just south of Highway 42 near the intersection of Clark Pond Road.  Troopers said a maroon Honda CR-V SUV was traveling southbound on Buffalo Road when it traveled to the left, crossed the center line then ran off the northbound shoulder striking a highway sign then a tree.

Emergency crews had to extricate two of the victims from the wreckage.

The driver, Shannon Kelly Northup, 36, and three teenage passengers ages 15, 16, and 17 were transported by Johnston County EMS to Wake Medical Center.  Authorities said Northup and the 15 year-old passenger sustained serious injuries.   The 16 and 17 year-old passengers sustained minor injuries.

The Thanksgiving and Wilson’s Mills Fire Departments also responded.  Charges are pending.
