4 Injured In Crash In Front Of School

Four people were injured following a two car crash Tuesdayevening in front of Smithfield Middle School on Buffalo Road.

Fire, EMS and Smithfield Police responded to the 6:58pm accident.

Officers said Adriana Veloz Carranza of Franklin Drive, Smithfield was traveling northbound in the turn lane of Buffalo Road in her 2007 Toyota. As Carranza attempted to make a left turn into the parking lot of Smithfield Middle, she pulled directly into the path of a southbound 2014 Ford operated by Ashley Roxana Rogers of Princeton-Kenly Road, Kenly.

After the impact the Ford spun around and struck a utility pole owned by the Town of Smithfield.

Both drivers and one passenger in each vehicle complained of injuries.  Two people were treated at the scene and two others were transported by Johnston County EMS to the hospital.

Carranza was issued a ticket for failing to yield.  Damage was estimated at $6,000 to each vehicle. Damage to the utility pole was placed at $2,500.
