4 Killed, 2 Hurt In Sampson County Crash

The Highway Patrol has released the names of the four people who were killed in a crash in Sampson County Sunday morning.  The wreck happened on US701 near Garland.

Troopers said a white 2006 Toyota pickup ran off the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.  Four people died from their injuries. Two others were seriously injured.

The deceased have been identified as the driver, Karl Lamont Jones, 54, of Lakeland, Florida, and three passengers, Melquaides Ramirez, 24, Ricardo Ramirez, 21, and Luis Felipe Rocha Madrigal, 24, all of Harrells, NC. 

Two passengers were taken to the hospital for serious injuries. They were identified as Rachel Gaulk, 29, and Victor Manuel Labaton Mendoza, 24, both from Harrells.

Troopers believe alcohol played a factor in the crash.
