4 Teenagers Injured In Speed-Related Crash

The NC Highway Patrol has filed charges in connection with a crash last week that injured four teenagers.

The wreck was reported at 2:29pm last Friday, Oct. 26th on Vinson Road near Rain Water Court between Clayton and Wilson’s Mills.

A 2005 Toyota driven by 17 year-old Amber Nicole Swain of Clayton was traveling eastbound on Vinson Road in a curve when she ran off the roadway. The car struck a small ditch then went airborne colliding with a large tree. The car struck a second tree before coming to rest on its roof.

Swain and three passengers, all age 16, were transported to Wake Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.   According to an accident report filed by Trooper J.D. Perdue, Swain was traveling at 55mph in a 45mph zone at the time of the accident.

Swain was cited for exceeding a safe speed and for having unsafe tires.
