Smithfield Police and Animal Control are investigating after a young child was bitten by a dog in front of their home. Police said the incident occurred April 20th in the 1900 block of S. Brightleaf Boulevard.
Officers said the 4 year-old was bitten by a dog running loose in the neighborhood. The child sustained minor injuries. Animal control responded and were able to capture the dog, which was transported to the Johnston County Animal Shelter.
Lt. T. West said officers are now attempting to locate the owner of the dog.
