41-Lot Subdivision Proposed Near Clayton

Plans are moving forward with a new subdivision near Clayton.  During a work session Monday night, there were no citizens comments on the 41-lot Rhodes Farm Subdivision at the intersection of Peele Road and Little Creek Church Road.  A public hearing and formal vote will take place before the Clayton Town Council on January 4th.

Gray Wolf Development of Clayton is seeking permission to develop 40 single-family lots on 51.92 acres of land.  There is currently one existing home on the parcel of land.  The average lot size will be 1.29 acres.  There is also space for a mail kiosk. The subdivision is within the Town of Clayton extraterritorial jurisdiction (ETJ).

Water service would be provided by Johnston County and power from Duke Energy. There will be onsite septic systems. The main access point to the subdivision will be off Little Creek Church Road.

Due to the rural character of the subdivision, developers are seeking an exemption to the requirements of curb and gutter and sidewalks.

During their Nov. 30th meeting, the Clayton Planning Board recommended to the Clayton Town Council they approve the request.
