Eagle Scout Recognized For Helping Animal Shelter

Zachary Daniel Shultz from Boy Scout Troop # 714 of Clayton recently received an Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award on August 5th from Eagle Scout Coordinator Lewis W. Rice III (far right) on behalf of the Johnston County Marine Corps League Carry-On Detachment 1236.

Zachary is a rising freshman at West Johnston High School. He currently hold the position of Librarian for Troop 714 of Clayton. He is also a member of the Johnston County Youth String Orchestra.

For his Eagle Scout project, Zachary, an avid pet lover, built several A-frame doghouses and donated them to the Johnston County Animal Control Center.  “If you have an outside dog and it does not have a shelter and a fenced-in enclosure it is a $500 fine,” Zachary said

He is the son of Tim and Megan Shultz of Angier.
