KENLY – The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office patrol division and narcotics division seized five kilos of cocaine during a traffic stop on Interstate 95 near Kenly. The traffic stop happened late-Monday.
JCSO deputies pulled over a car reportedly driven by Ronny Salinas of Snow Hill, NC. During a search of the car cocaine was located inside a cooler in the back seat.
Salinas was charged with three counts of trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture sell or deliver cocaine, and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance.
The 27 year-old man was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center under a half million dollar secured bond.
A Smithfield Police K-9 unit assisted with the traffic stop.
