CLAYTON – Aqua North Carolina reports the discharge of untreated wastewater in the 200 block of Hill Row Lane, Clayton on Sunday, June 2 due to a blockage in the collection system.
An estimated amount of 5,900 gallons of wastewater discharged into Mill Creek located in the Neuse River Basin.
Aqua personnel immediately initiated corrective actions to mitigate the spill with assistance from an environmental response contractor to contain the spill in the immediate area, repair the broken line, and remediate the impacted area.
The North Carolina Division of Water Resources was notified of the event on Monday, June 3 and is reviewing the matter.
