A multi-car accident brought traffic on Highway 70 to a halt for a short time Monday afternoon. Authorities said the crash on Highway 70 near Selma was actually two separate accidents involving a total of 8 vehicles.
Fortunately, all the injuries were minor and damage was minimal. No one was transported to the hospital.
One driver described the collision as a slow-speed chain-reaction accident “which just wouldn’t end.” It occurred as traffic was merging into a single lane heading into the eastbound work zone near Buffalo Road.
Traffic was heavy but moving until the multiple collisions brought the flow of cars and trucks to a complete stop.
The Selma Fire Department, Johnston County EMS and NC Highway Patrol responded.
