BENSON – It’s the case of the missing shipment of hams. 840 cases of ham that is.
The hams were last seen September 26 inside a tractor trailer at warehouse on Gilbert Road near Benson. They were scheduled for delivered the following day at a Walmart store in Winter Haven, Florida, but never arrived.
A trucking company bid on a contract to transport the $70,000 shipment from North Carolina to Florida but allegedly double-brokered the shipment to someone else without notifying the shipper.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is working with a logistics company to try and cut through the pork and solve the ham caper.
