WILSON’S MILLS – An unknown petroleum based liquid was discovered on Wilson’s Mills Road, early Tuesday morning.
Around 5:30am, a caller reported an approximate two mile long line of the foul-smelling liquid in the southbound lane.
Willson’s Mills Fire and Police responded with the North Carolina Department of Transportation and Johnston County Emergency Management to the area starting just under the new US 70 bridge.
NCDOT crews spread sand on the slippery fluid just before a heavy rain completed the cleanup.
Traffic was only slightly affected by the spill. The vehicle that leaked the smelly liquid on highway was never located.
