A Trip To Remember

Boy Scouts from four different counties departed Wednesday morning from Benson to attend the 2017 National Scout Jamboree Summit Bechtel Reserve located in the New River Gorge Region of West Virginia.
The Tuscarora Council is headquartered in Goldsboro and consist of scouts in Johnston, Sampson, Wayne and Duplin counties.

The Tuscarora Council Contingent Troop 4420 (pictured) consists of 36 Boy Scouts and 4 Adult Leaders – Scoutmaster Ed Williford, Assistant Scoutmasters Devell “Bo” Durham, Jay Renfrow, and Jim Chandler.

This year’s National Jamboree will be held July 19th – 28th.

The National Scout Jamboree is a gathering, or Jamboree, of thousands of members of the Boy Scouts of America. The National Scout Jamboree is held once every four years and is organized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

At the previous National Jamboree held in 2013, over 40,000 Scouts from all over the Nation and world attended.

This year’s theme is “Live Scouting’s Adventure.”
