A Raleigh woman received minor injuries after crashing her car into a utility pole on Thanksgiving Day. The accident happened at 4:03pm on South Lombard Street near Blanchard Street in Clayton.
Clayton Police said Wanda Byrd Evans ran off the roadway and struck the utility pole. Evans was taken by ambulance to Johnston Medical Center in Clayton for minor injuries.
The accident closed Lombard Street for about 3 hours while the power lines and power pole were replaced. Damage to the utility pole and power lines was estimated at $10,000. Damage to the 2003 Ford that Evans was operating was also estimated at $10,000.
