Accident Claims One Life On Interstate 95

FOUR OAKS – One person died in a single vehicle accident on Interstate 95 in Johnston County. The wreck was reported around 5:30am Sunday near the 91 mile marker just north of Highway 701.

Authorities said Cedric D. Rice, age 27, of Roanoke Rapids, NC was traveling southbound in a Ford passenger car when the vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a ditch then collided with a tree in the woodline.

Rice was not wearing a seat belt. He died at the scene. There were no passengers in the vehicle.

No other vehicles were involved in the early morning accident.
