Accident Reported At Intersection Awaiting NCDOT Safety Upgrade

FOUR OAKS – No one was injured Friday afternoon in a two vehicle accident on US 701 South at Stewart Road near Four Oaks. Two adults and two children were involved in the 3:50pm collision. The occupants were checked out at the scene by Johnston County EMS but were not transported.
The Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department provided traffic control.
In August 2022, the NC Department of Transportation announced the intersection was one of nine in Johnston County that would be converted into all-way stops to improve safety. The upgrade has not been completed.
In September, a serious crash involving two tractor trailers and a utility truck occurred at the US 701 and Stewart Road intersection. Four people were injured.
