CLAYTON – A section of Polenta Road in the Cleveland community has reopened after being closed to traffic for a several hours.
Just after 10:00am Tuesday, first responders were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on Polenta Road, between McLemore Road and Matthews Road.
Authorities located a vehicle that had reportedly wrecked, and the driver suffering a gunshot wound to the head. There was no one else in the vehicle.
Investigators believe the driver sustained a self inflicted gunshot wound while traveling on Polenta Road, then wrecked the vehicle. The victim was rushed to Wake Medical Center with life threatening injuries.
No further information has been released.
