A former front desk clerk at Cape Fear Christian Academy was arrested Friday after she was accused of performing sexual acts with a student.

Forty-five-year-old Tammy Moran, a substitute parent and former mother to exchange students living in Coats, is facing three counts of sexual acts by a substitute parent.

“The Academy is aware that an employee has been charged criminally in relation to allegations of an off-campus inappropriate relationship with a student. Earlier this afternoon, the Board took action to dismiss the employee,” CFCA’s Headmaster Karen Parker said in a statement Friday to The Daily Record.

The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a report of inappropriate activity between a student and a staff member at the academy on Wednesday.

“The Academy is devastated by this incident and asks for the community’s support and prayers during this difficult time,” Parker said in the statement.

“The safety and well-being of our students are of utmost importance. The school has been and will continue to cooperate with law enforcement in this ongoing matter.”

Moran was being held in the Harnett County Detention Center under a secured bond of $150,000.
