Johnston County Public Utilities and the Town of Selma have both reported sewage spills along W. Noble Street.
On Saturday, the County said intense rainfall and flooding caused a discharge of untreated wastewater in the vicinity of 1457 W. Noble Street in Selma. Approximately 18,750 gallons overflowed between 10:30am and 4:45pm Friday. This is in addition to a 282,000 gallon spill that occurred Thursday.
The Town of Selma reported a 49,500 gallon wastewater spill off W. Noble Street for approximately seven hours Friday.
The untreated wastewater from both spills entered into Mill Creek in the Neuse River Basin.
The NC Division of Water Quality was notified and is investigating the incidents.
