After recently completing Basic Law Enforcement Training, Officer Alexander E. Watts has joined the Smithfield police force. Watts will fill a vacancy on the patrol division.
Officer Watts received his Oath from Mayor Andy Moore (not pictured) during the September meeting of the Smithfield Town Council.
Police Chief Keith Powell said, “I am glad the agency had the opportunity to hire a local resident, who grew up in the Town of Smithfield.”
“Being hired by the Smithfield Police Department is a dream come true,” Officer Watts told Johnston County Report. “I have wanted to be a police officer since I was 8 years-old. I was raised here in Smithfield and graduated from Johnston County Schools. I am honored to serve and protect the community that raised me. My goal is to learn as much as possible and grow within the Smithfield Police Department. I aspire to build a strong relationship between the community and our Department.”
