Aliens Indicted On Illegal Reentry Charges

Robert J. Higdon, Jr., United States Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, has announced that a federal grand jury in Raleigh has returned indictments charging Ramon Hernandez-Lopez, age 44, of Mexico, and Jesus Ortiz-Jimenez, age 28, of Mexico with Illegal Reentry of a Deported Alien. Both were found in Johnston County.

Hernandez-Lopez had previously been deported twice, once for a felony conviction for possession of cocaine.  If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 10 years and a $250,000 fine.

Ortiz-Jimenez had previously been deported twice. He could face a maximum penalty of 2 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The charges and allegations contained in the indictments are merely accusations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.  The cases are being investigated by ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations.
