Anderson Announces Run For Senate Seat

Tanya White Anderson, a military veteran and self-described “advocate for working-class citizens,” recently announced her campaign for the North Carolina Senate District 12 seat. Anderson is a Democrat from Linden and will face Republican incumbent Sen. Jim Burgin, of Angier, in the Nov. 5 General Election.

Anderson says she has been a vocal advocate for military veterans and has worked to improve access to healthcare, housing and job training for veterans in the community.

“… Military veterans have made significant sacrifices for our country and deserve our support and respect,” she noted in a press release announcing her candidacy.

Anderson says she is also committed to improving public education and supporting working-class families in North Carolina. She is campaigning on those platforms.

“… Every child deserves access to a quality education, regardless of their zip code or family income level,” she noted in the release. Anderson advocates for increased funding for public schools, higher teacher salaries and more support for at-risk students.

Her platform also includes support for working-class citizens.

She said she believes that every person in North Carolina deserves to earn a living wage and have access to affordable healthcare. Anderson favors expanding Medicaid and increasing access to affordable housing.

“I am excited to announce my candidacy for North Carolina State Senate,” she said. “I believe that we need leaders who are committed to making a positive difference in our community. As a military veteran and community advocate, I have seen firsthand the challenges facing working-class families in North Carolina. I am committed to fighting for policies that support our veterans, improve access to education and provide economic opportunities for all North Carolinians.”

Anderson said she plans to continue meeting with voters across the state to listen to their concerns and share her vision for a better North Carolina.

  1. Her platform reads like every other “D” candidate. Their solution always seems to be more funding. She states she supports the “working-class families” whatever that means, but wants to expand government programs. Expanding government programs requires taking money from those “working families” and redistributing it among her proposed expanded government programs. This in no way supports “working families”.

It’s same talking points both sides have been making for decades with issues only staying the same or declining. If we keep doing what we have always done, we will only get what we have always gotten. Where are the politicians that want to take bold stands against this useless rhetoric and are willing to make hard decisions that will ultimately benefit our community?
