“This program gives teens a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement while also teaching important skills they can use in everyday life,” said Lieutenant Jeff Young, co-organizer of the 2025 Teen Academy. “We want them to walk away with a better understanding of how officers help the community and how they can step up to make a real difference too.”

To apply, students must be between 13 and 19 years old and submit a completed application, along with a one-minute video explaining why they want to attend. Applicants should also be in good physical health and prepared for a brief fitness activity. Videos should be emailed to lkeating-lopez@townofclaytonnc.org. The application is available at claytonpolice.org/teenacademyapp.

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m., Friday, May 16. Applications will be reviewed upon arrival, and selected applicants will be notified by Friday, May 23. Those accepted must submit a signed and notarized waiver from a parent or guardian before attending.
