Archer Lodge leaders have taken the next step to enforce animal control laws within town limits. On June 8, they adopted an ordinance to govern how these issues will be handled.
Regulations include the handling of vaccination coverage, public nuisance animals, animal owner responsibility and licensing.
Until earlier this year, Johnston County Animal Control had been providing animal control services to the town. Archer Lodge will now take their new procedures into negotiations with the Town of Clayton to contract services with their department. Mayor Mike Gordon said they will be reaching out to Clayton’s Town Manager Steve Biggs to set up discussions.
The town of Archer Lodge recently approved spending up to $18,000 for the 2015-2016 fiscal year to cover the cost of service calls and equipment.
