The Archer Lodge Fire Department has received an improved fire rating. NC Insurance Commissioner and State Fire Marshal Mike Causey announced last week the Archer Lodge Fire Department completed their routine inspection and received a new and improved rating.
Fire Chief Phillip Driver said the Fire District Rating was lowered from a 5 to a 3. That will help lower insurance premiums, especially for commercial businesses.
Chief Driver said the improved rating had been something the department had been working on for several years. The department increased full-time staffing, purchased a new fire engine in 2015, and expanded their to house more apparatus.
Driver said the hard work of the Archer Lodge firemen should make residents in the district feel better knowing they are constantly working to improve safety and protect them and their property in case of an emergency.
The Archer Lodge Fire Department has 4 full-time, 10 part-time and 28 volunteer members. They have 7 trucks including three engines. The district is 32 square miles.
