Argument Over Shopping Cart Leads To Fight, Police Say

SMITHFIELD – An argument over a shopping cart reportedly led to a fight inside the Smithfield Walmart. Smithfield Police said they responded to Walmart on February 14th around 3:00pm for an affray involving two women, ages 49 and 66, both with Smithfield addresses.

A police spokesperson said the two women, who did not know one another, were in the grocery section shopping. One of the women moved a shopping cart that was reportedly in her way, upsetting the other person. Words were exchanged and the altercation turned physical.

An incident report indicated both victims sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention at the scene.

Officers told both parties to speak with a magistrate if they wished to pursue charges. There was no immediate report either party had obtained a warrant.

No other shoppers were involved in the altercation.

In November 2015, Smithfield Police were called to Walmart following an altercation between two people after a shopping cart was not returned to the correction location in the parking lot.

  1. Happens all the time where a shopping cart is in the way of other shoppers. No one should blame someone, much less fight, for moving the cart out of the way. We all need to be considerate of others around us.

  2. Only at Walmart does stuff like this happen all over the country LOL. Hope their children and grandchildren learn from this example how NOT to behave in public. They both should have went to jail for the night to teach them a lesson on how to properly conduct themselves in a civilized community.

    • Yup, this incident is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Not the centuries of wars, genocide, bigotry, slavery, and other global atrocities the have plagued human civilization. Way to go Smithfield Walmart!

  4. Because lawlessness abounds, the love of many waxes cold, just as Jesus said would happen in these days.

    • I will quote you a different religious leader, “Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”

Stop living in fear of G*d, bask in his love.

        • I agree with the passage but not with your sentiment. Fear in His word is respect. What I see in theses comments is actual fear.

  5. I’m never in such a hurry at Wa-mart that I cannot wait for someone to move their cart😂 People that are THAT impatient should go early early or late late! WTF is that the most important thing in your miserable life? Gag!
