Arrest Made In 1989 Goldsboro Homicide

Goldsboro Police have made an arrest in a 31 year-old homicide investigation.  On April 23, 1989 at 4:47am, Goldsboro Police and EMS responded to 311 Pearson Street to investigate a report of an injured man. The resident called 911 after finding a man on her front porch bleeding from a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital and where he was pronounced dead upon arrival

The victim was later identified as Gino Tyrone Harper, 31, of Goldsboro. An investigation followed and Gurman Ray Pearsall was charged with murder but the charges were never taken before a Grand Jury and he was subsequently released.

In February of 2018, the case was re-examined by Goldsboro Police in light of new evidence, leading to Gurman Ray Pearsall being recharged with the murder of Gino Harper.
Pearsall, who is now 70, was arrested on October 14, 2020 by the U.S. Marshals Task Force in the 100 block of Sumpter Drive in Goldsboro and booked into the Wayne County Jail without bond.
