The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office has made one arrest and says others can be expected in connection with an undercover drug investigation dating back to 2014 in the Benson area.
Wendi Gayle Barefoot, 27, of Kenan Road, Four Oaks was arrested Monday night on 27 felony charges and confined in the Johnston County Jail under an $800,000 bond. Narcotics Captain A.C. Fish said Barefoot sold prescription pills to undercover officers during the investigation.
Barefoot was charged with 21 counts of trafficking in opium or heroin, 3 counts of conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance, and 3 counts of maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance.
Captain Fish said more suspects will be facing charges.
