Arrest Made In Armed Robbery At Church

An arrest has been made in the robbery of two teenagers in the parking lot of a church last month.

On December 23rd the 16 year-olds said they had gone to Wal-Mart then a convenience store before headed home. While driving home around 2:30am one of the teens allegedly became sick and stopped in the parking lot of the Brighter Hope Christian Fellowship in the 1900 block of Slate Top Road near Clayton.

The teens claimed two suspects emerged from behind the church bus and robbed them of their wallets, cash, and a cell phone.

Johnston County deputies have now charged 18 year-old Tyquan Cevion Thorne of the 200 block of Slate Top Road with one felony count of robbery with a dangerous weapon.  At the time of his arrest Thorne was wanted for failing to appear in court on a 2015 charge of receiving stolen goods.

Thorne was booked into the Johnston County Jail on a $250,000 bond on the robbery charge and a $450 bond on the failure to appear warrant.
