A Raleigh man is being held without bond after he allegedly broke into a Johnston County home early-Wednesday morning and violently assaulting a 19 year-old woman inside. The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office said the incident was domestic related and not a random act.
Deputies responded to an apartment off Glen Road near the I-40/NC42 interchange where Justin Tyree Lewis, 25, had allegedly entered and physically attacked the victim during which her clothes were ripped.
Lewis was still on the scene when officers arrived. He attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended. During the confrontation with a deputy he was tasered then taken into custody.
Lewis was charged with first degree burglary, first degree kidnapping, assault by strangulation, domestic assault on a female, and resisting a public officer. At the time of the incident, Lewis was wanted on a fugitive extradition warrant from Virginia. The exact charges in Virginia were not immediately disclosed.
He was held without bond on the fugitive warrant plus an additional $200,000 bail on the other charges stemming from the burglary and assault.
