An arrest has been made in the shooting and robbery of a convenience store clerk last month.
Acting on a tip, Wayne County deputies located 19 year-old Ervin Lee Waters of Goldsboro inside the bedroom of a home on Mill Creek Court near Goldsboro on Thursday. He was arrested without incident.
Waters is charged with the July 11th robbery of the Handy Mart Store at 2495 US Highway 13 North. During the hold up, three suspects approached the clerk as he was locking up the business for the night. They forced him back inside and at gunpoint began stealing lottery tickets and tobacco products. The clerk attempted to flee on foot but was shot.
Waters is charged with attempted first degree murder, kidnapping, robbery, and felony breaking and entering. He was incarcerated in the Wayne County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
The search continues for a second suspect in the case Tyquellas Jaire Thompson who has outstanding warrants for his arrest.
